Triangle Springs, a leading provider of behavioral health services in the Raleigh area, announced today that two new psychiatrists have joined its organization in 2020.

Muhammad Usman Saeed, MD, recently began his role as the facility’s medical director, overseeing all psychiatric medical care at the 77-bed inpatient hospital, as well the facility’s robust outpatient programming.  Dr. Saeed brings more than a decade of experience leading multidisciplinary teams to improve care for those with significant psychiatric needs.  His experience ranges from treating those in crisis and those in inpatient behavioral health care, to caring for those in outpatient mental health programs.  He is board certified in general psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry.

“It is an honor to serve as Triangle Springs’ medical director,” said Dr. Saeed. “I appreciate the hospital’s strong focus on collaborating with other community providers to ensure patients always receive the appropriate level of coordinated care.  This team-based commitment to care is evident in the fact that Triangle Springs exceeds national benchmarks for key behavioral health quality metrics, specifically Hospital Based Inpatient Psychiatric Services (HBIPS) measures.”

According to the National Association of Behavioral Health, HBIPS reflects a major national leadership effort to improve quality, safety, and performance of hospital-based inpatient psychiatric services through the collaboration of hospitals, physicians, and consumers.  HBIPS has created standardization of measures, data specifications, and definitions to help hospitals compare their performance within hospital-based psychiatric services to that of their peers.  Triangle Springs exceeds those national benchmarks.

In addition, Stuart Krein, MD, has joined Triangle Springs as a psychiatrist.  Dr. Krein most recently served as the medical director and attending psychiatrist for the behavioral health inpatient unit, and busy outpatient clinic, of a Missouri-based hospital. He is board certified in psychiatry and neurology.

“We are delighted that Dr. Saeed and Dr. Krein have joined our team.  They each bring a strong evidence-based approach to helping patients recover from mental health and addiction-related conditions,” said Amanda Johanson, Triangle Springs CEO.  “Triangle Springs has developed a unique approach to treating the whole patient – including offering traditional therapies coupled with art and recreational therapy. Our medical providers are key to helping us realize our mission of changing people’s lives.”
